Nothing, according to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will cause it to rethink its stance on the seats that former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) are taking vacation from.
The major opposition political party made it clear that it was not being pressured to back down from its legal stance by anyone.

The party claimed to have already made it as obvious as possible that, as of December 11, 2023, the lawmakers were no longer members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
On that precise day, the roughly 27 lawmakers officially announced their switch from the PDP to the APC.
The PDP’s response came after a social media report that purported there were conspiracies to undermine the PDP’s stance and give the lawmakers an impossible lifeline so they could retake their seats.
The PDP stated the signature of Debo Ologunagba, its national publicity secretary, saying, “Our party therefore stands by its position that the affected members have since lost their seats in the Rivers State House of Assembly having arrogantly committed an unpardonable constitutional breach.”
To be clear, the PDP stated unequivocally that the former Rivers State lawmakers “are no longer members of the Rivers State House of Assembly from December 11, 2023, when they publicly announced their defection from the PDP to the APC” in its counterclaim by its National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN, in Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/1681/2023 filed at the Federal High Court Abuja.
It continued, “Happy are the numerous rulings from our nation’s highest court that uphold the stance adopted by our party.
