In a recent statement, Hon. Udoeze Kalu, leader of the Abia North Youth Agenda, ANYA, expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for signing the Southeast Development Bill into law. This landmark legislation is poised to bring significant economic growth and infrastructure development to the Southeast region.
Hon. Kalu praised President Tinubu’s commitment to addressing the region’s long-standing challenges, stating, “We are thrilled that Mr. President has taken this bold step towards redeeming the Southeast. This bill will unlock the region’s vast potential and bring prosperity to our people.”
However, Hon. Kalu also seized the opportunity to appeal to President Tinubu on a pressing matter: the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Kalu emphasized that Kanu’s release would further demonstrate the President’s dedication to healing regional wounds and fostering unity.
“We urge Mr. President to take this gesture of goodwill a step further by releasing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. This act of compassion will resonate deeply with the people of the Southeast and reinforce the President’s commitment to national reconciliation,” Hon. Kalu said.
By linking the Southeast Development Bill to Kanu’s release, Hon. Kalu underscored the interconnectedness of economic development and political reconciliation in the region. As the Southeast begins to reap the benefits of this legislation, the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu would serve as a powerful symbol of President Tinubu’s dedication to a more inclusive and harmonious Nigeria.
