Julius Abure’s position as the National Chairman of the Labour Party, LP, has been confirmed by the Court of Appeal, Abuja division.
On Wednesday, the Federal Capital Territory’s High Court’s ruling prohibiting Abure and two other individuals from designating themselves as national officers of the party was overturned by the appellate court.
Judge Hamman Barka, however, concluded in the ruling on Wednesday that the high court erred in assuming jurisdiction over the case.
Leading a three-person panel of Justices of the Court of Appeal, Justice Barka delivered the judgement in the appeal that Abure filed to challenge the high court’s ruling. Justice Barka determined that Abure’s appeal had substance and was thus granted.
