The Coordinator of Abia North Youth Agenda, ANYA, a youth-driven good governance advocacy group, Hon. Udoeze Kalu, has sent a strong message to the members of the Abia Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as they prepare to elect a new chairman to manage her affairs from 2024.

In a message to the press, Udoeze reminded the contestants that occupying the position will go beyond the desire to serve the interests of the leader, his allies and immediate family, but must be ready to carry every member along, unlike in the past when members were only recognized and valued for purpose of winning elections and Congresses. He reminded them that PDP is one of the biggest opposition party in the state, therefore, any leader that emerge among the contestants must be ready to carry everyone along.

Udoeze also encouraged the contestants not to leave the party if they lose because in every contest like this, only one person will emerge, rather than decamp for losing, coming together to support anyone that emerged the chairman will show unity of purpose and prove that the contestants were not only after their personal gains, but after the interest of Ndi Abia and the party as a whole.

In his words: “As you gather to elect a new chairman, remember that this moment presents a crucial opportunity to shape the future of Peoples Democratic Party in Abia state and redeemed PDP from the shadows of her former self. Choose a leader who embodies vision, integrity, and inclusivity.

“A leader who will unite PDP and drive progress for all Abians.
A leader who will empower our youth and celebrate our oneness.
A leader who will stand for good governance and accountability.
Remember that this opportunity has presented itself for the People’s Democratic Party to right all the wrongs against the state in the past, therefore they must insist on a credible leader who will steer the affairs of the party in the right direction if they plan to bounce back.

“Abia PDP must rise above personal interests and unite for the greater good because the fate of the party depends on it. The party has demonstrated equity, fairness and believe in the future by zoning the Chairmanship to Abia North Zone in rotation after Abia South and Abia Central. It will be a great show of sportsmanship if the zone will emulate the party’s magnanimity of the organizing committee and micro zone the position to any area that has not led the party. This will be a great show of equity and fairness” he argued.

He insisted that the greater goal of every political party must be focused on sacrifices, good policies and unity of purpose to continue tlo build Abia for better tomorrow.
