In reaction to the call by President Muhammed Buhari for the review of 368 grazing reserves for Fulani pastoralists in 25 States of the Federation is not only an invitation for mayhem but a scheme to shatter the unity of Nigeria whose taproot has been at the weakest point, insisting that FG should focus more on Salvaging Nigeria.

Animal rearing and its attendant malady had plunged this country into chaos, untold hardship, and loss of lives and properties with no meaningful commitment by the government to tackle the menace rather the APC led administration is bent on polluting the entire system by calling for a review of grazing routes which is never an operating law made by the parliament.

Reviewing grazing reserves to further instigate crisis between farmers and herders against the will of the people is anti-human and an omen of recklessness. In Federal Presidential arrangements like Nigeria, the President has no constitutional power to impose orders on States to give their land for grazing routes. In this hybrid technological age that animal husbandry is being managed using ranches and other secure means is where the government of Nigeria still employs conservative methods which had really proved unsuccessful over the years.

In a time when a former CBN governor has revealed how the gains gathered in 35years had been wiped out in the past five years and nobody is reacting or demanding accountability to that effect.

In a time when Nigeria is borrowing without caution from other countries with a prevailing risk of mortgaging this nation that on the 19th August 2021, even made the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr.Peter Obi to have advised the government to invest the borrowed funds to save Nigeria from future crisis.

Southern Kaduna, Zamfara State, Plateau, and others have been a hotbed for killings by bandits, herdsmen, and kidnappers with no formidable measures put in place to contain the situation. Herders pillaging and plundering human lives and farmlands with no confrontation from the Security agents rather they would be treated with kids’ gloves while the victim’s family languish in pains and perpetual agony.

Whooping billions of dollars had been stolen in the face of this very government and no anti-graft agencies are ready to take in the indicted persons rather the regulatory financial watchdogs are used to intimidate and harass political opponents to silence.

Mr. President is advised to focus on delivering democratic dividends to the crying Nigerians than chasing shadows of reviewing grazing routes which nobody has the power to impose any draconian law on States with independent rights to regulate land use in their respective domains.

We, therefore, call on well-meaning Nigerians and governors of Southern Nigeria to resist this misguided advances of the Federal government is trying to subjugate the land with private enterprises of cattle rearing by his kinsmen.
