The menace of COVID-19 has remained a cause for worry around the Globe with Nigeria not being an exception. This is the reason why we must show all atom of patriotism and sportsmanship in this moment of trial for us all posed by COVID-19 even as Mr Kyari had tested positive.
We need to avoid the temptation of politicizing the reality facing us at the moment and therefore should eschew all manners antagonism and work as one body to deal with our common energy.
The Director General of Global Initiative for Good Governance (GIGG), and Protocols, PDP youth Alliance, Chief Dr Emeka Kalu has called on all Nigerian leaders to show themselves loyal to the good of the citizens they are elected to protect and serve.
In a statement he issued from his Abuja office and signed by his media and Publicity Aide, Comr Amos Kalu, Dr Kalu said that the State Governor who visited the President, the speaker of House of Representatives who also met with the President on the 16th March, 2020 as well as all who attended the commissioning of the Coronavirus Emergency Number 112 on 19th and everyone that has met with the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari should take the patriotic action of self isolation and submitting self to proper test.
The news of the postive test of the Chief of staff to the president is unfortunate and worrisome and must not be politicised by anyone ney, treated with levity. Therefore the contingent of contacts who came in touch with the CoS which could’ve tricked down to entire leadership and staff of the nation must be treated with dispatch and deserved professionalism. No sacred cows.
“It is unfortunate to hear that some members of the house of Rep refused to be tested even on return at the airport and I think it is very unpatriotic as the test is meant to safeguard them their family and the nation they hold dear.
“I see no shame in this because it is not a mark of death on anyone because if detected on time, one has a high percentage of recovery from the attack of the deadly virus”, he said.
Chief Kalu therefore called on the IGP, DSS and other security agents to join in the search for the addresses and persons who may be considered a threat to the spread of the the virus and enforce compliance where needed because this disease is no respect of persons, class or creed.
“This is a national security emergency and must be treated as such. Anyone who organizes gathering of more than 50 persons against directions of Nigeria’s health body should be arrested and punished for constituting threat to National Security”. Dr Kalu concludes.
