Results for the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) have been made public by the West African Examination Council (WAEC).
On Monday, the examination body announced the results.
Patrick Areghan, Head of Nigeria’s Office (HNO) of WAEC, reported that 262,803 of the 1,613,733 applicants who registered for the exam have had their results withheld “due to reports of cases of examination malpractice.”
A total of 1,361,608 candidates, or 84.38 percent, received credit or above in a minimum of five courses, with or without English Language or Mathematics, he claimed, showing an improvement in the pass rate.
Additionally, 1,287,920 candidates—or 79.81 percent of all applicants—got credits in at least five disciplines, including English Language and Mathematics.
