On Monday, at the Jogor Centre in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, dignitaries honoured the late Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, with an evening of tributes and a service of songs.
During the ceremony, Kayode Fayemi, a former governor of Ekiti State, paid respect to Akeredolu, describing him as the leader protecting the defenceless people of Southwest Nigeria.

“His unwavering support for community policing has now received widespread acceptance, extending beyond political boundaries,” he declared.
“Serving the public good and creating a united nation brought him the most joy. He spoke truth to power without fear.”
Other dignitaries in attendance included the governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Olamide Oladiji, the speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly; Debo Ogundoyin, the speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, and his wife; Bisi, the wife of Fayemi; Ade Adetimehin, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Ondo State chapter; members of the Ondo State House of Assembly; some members of the state executive council; and former state executive members appointed by the late Akeredolu, led by Oladunni Odu, among others.
