Between the 9th and 10th of November 2021, all the Teachers and Head Teachers in Arochukwu Ohafia federal Constituency will be gathering at Hotel De Koko, beautifully situated at Asaga Road, Ebem Ohafia for a two day training on the use of Modern teaching/ Instructional materials sponsored by the speaker of Arochukwu/ Ohafia Fed. constituency at the Green Chambers, Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole.

Of course, there’s certainly no smoke without its accompanying fire. The teachers aren’t just gathering. Something necessitated it.

Patiently stay with me as we sail through the smoke that metamorphosed into the fire being witnessed at Hotel De Koko.

In line with his resolve to uplift the standard and status of teaching and learning in public schools across his constituency, Hon. Nkole had in the last three years or more transversed to the length and breadth of Arochukwu and Ohafia federal Constituency with the distribution of modern Instructional materials/ teaching/ learning aids, including the rehabilitation and construction of classroom blocks.

From Umukwu Ukpai primary school to Okweji Memorial primary school, down to Ndi Ojiugwo Abam and Central Schools Idima Abam, the testimonies are the same. All now wear a new look, fully equipped and well furnished.

In all, Mr. Project as popularly called because of his strides in all spheres of representation, especially in the attraction of infrastructure to his people, has committed well over 400 millions Naira towards changing the narrative of public schools in his constituency.

In his speech at the palace of Eze Arochukwu on the 23rd of January 2021, Hon Nkole was quoted as saying, “My resolve to flood all public schools in my constituency with modern academic materials and infrastructure is to a large extent reduce the burden on parents as well as scale up enrollment into our public schools”. He further assured that the initiative Will go round the one hundred and eighty six public schools in the Constituency and further charged the host communities to ensure the protection of the materials.

Within the three phases of the distribution exercise, all public primary schools in Arochukwu and Ohafia LGAs can now boost of being equipped with various modern Instructional materials/ teaching/ learning aids, office furniture for headteachers and teachers, computers, generating sets, shelves, exercise books, white marker boards (Which replaced the old blackboard), packets of biro pen, wall clocks, detachable lockers and seats for the pupils etc.

The takeaway from all that is that public primary schools in Arochukwu and Ohafia LGAs can now compete favourably with their counterparts in urban areas, with the once scanty clasbreath being filled to the brim following massive enrollments into these schools as a result of their new looks and facelifts.

In all, Hon. Nkole has painstakingly but successfully brought what is in sokoto down to shoot. That is the smoke.

Now to the fire.

The Abam Onyereubi self-styled federal law Maker believes that power is nothing without control, hence he engaged the services of well qualified and certified resource persons from Abuja, Port Harcourt and Enugu to train the teachers on the effective management and use of these modern teaching methods/ learning aids.

According to Benjamin Franklin, ‘investment in knowledge pays the best interest’, and that’s the philosophy of Hon. Nkole’s Education policy for his people.

At the end of the training, there is no doubt that the teachers and their head teachers will be returning home better than they came, having been equipped, fortified, trained, armed and refreshed, as it now behoves on them to put in their best, because it is generally believed that to whom much is given, ultimately much is required.
