The Publicity Secretary of PDP Youth Alliance, PDPYA, Chief Dr Emeka Kalu, has encouraged Nigerians not to lose focus of the process we passed through to arrive at the pedestrian of stable Democracy which we enjoin today as many sacrifices were laid down for the ultimate price.
In a statement signed by his media and publicity aide, Comr Amos Kalu, the Director General of Global Initiative for Good Governance, GIGG said that the essence of the celebration today is not to prove that we have arrived, rather to remind us that the journey continues and more need to be done to raise Nigeria up to compete among committee of nations as a country where peace, unity and progress is the driver force through robust rule of law.
Dr Kalu recalled that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar fought hard alongside Chief MKO Abiola who even layed down his life for his believe in a better Nigeria, saying that the same spirit and zeal has not died in Atiku, which is why he has continued to push to achieve the long dreams of the martyrs and crusaders that had made today a reality.
“It is painful and sad that we only celebrate our best in death and forget to acknowledge the labours of the living which is why we keep making the same miatakes over and over.
“For the role Alhaji Atiku played to fight alongside Chief Abiola and others to ensure we enjoy Democracy today, I wonder why it is still somehow difficult for some Nigerians to understand that the same passion for a good Nigeria still burn in Atiku which is why he has not given up yet. He keep offering himself to make it right for Nigerians by upholding the ideals and ideas of our fathers.
“It will be quite unfortunate if we will continue to pretend that all is well by experimenting on things that never works while overlooking the people we need to put this country on track again, people like Alhaji Atiku.
“I am calling on Nigerians to reflect as we celebrate today. Is what we see today worth our celebrating the life of a great man like Abiola? What are we really celebrating when we have continued to piss on his grave by not achieving anything from those things he fought hard to lay down his life for? Are we not ashamed?
“The only way to celebrate Chief MKO Abiola is to support men like Alhaji Atiku, who understand his ideals, who has the capacity and capability to answer the Nigeria question once and for all before we are led into extinct by men with no clue of what Nigeria needs.
“This is the case I will continue to make for Democracy until the time when we may really call our celebration “a celebration” in the true sense of the word” the statement concludes.
