The DG of Atikulated Agenda and Global Initiative for Good Governance, Chief Dr Emeka Kalu has urged the Apex Court to use today’s judgement review to set some things right and set the right precedence for citations in the legal system of Nigeria.
According Kalu, who is also the DG of Protocols, People Democratic Party Youth Alliance, said that the judgment that was delivered in Imo state have since put Nigeria’s legal system to ridicule as well as jeopardise our democracy in the attendant incessant protests that has rocked the peaceful state in recent weeks.
He said it should be on record that PDP is not crying foul on the basis of the judgment being against her, but rather on the the technicalities that might have been employed to thwart what seems to be a glaring truth.
He insisted that the contest was hinged on the action of adding all cancelled votes to a particular candidate without recourse to the established number of accredited votes, which makes the judgement unfair and biased.
He said that the apex court can apply doctrine of necessity today to reverse herself, blaming the error on the Ihedioha council and INEC who couldn’t establish this clear reality to guide the Supreme Court.
He expressed optimism that justice will be served right today to return peace and tranquility to Imo State by restoring the mandate given to Hon Emeka Ihedioha by the good people of the eastern state.
