Press Statement.
Finally, it is obvious that in Nigeria justice cannot be delayed forever as the Supreme court has finally announced the commencement 30th October, 2019 as date for the opening of the case and 11th November respectively as final judgement of the Presidential Election Petition brought before the Tribunal by the Presidential Candidate of People’s Democratic party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar challenging the INEC declaration of President Mohammadu Buhari as winner in an election that was marred with irregularities and display of naked force by the state machinery against the voters.
By now the rest is history, but a lot is still at stake because a lot depends on the final outcome of this process to determine the future or otherwise of Nigeria.
The outcome of the judgment by the Appeal Court of Nigeria where the entire nation looked up for the possibility of righting the conspicuous wrong done to the masses at the polls, was only a display that further dashed the hope of the common man who looks unto the Judiciary as their last hope.
Like every other time, the voices of Nigerians echoed to the roof tops appealing to the court to restore sanity to the Nigeria legal system by upsetting the judgment of the PEFT, a plea that fell on deaf ears and further dashed the hopes of the common man that so much hoped on the adjudication of fair justice by the Appeal court of respectable judges.
In this statement signed by his aide on Media and publicity, Comr. Amos Kalu, the Director General of Atikulated Agenda Worldwide, Global Initiative for Good Governance and the DG on protocols, PDP Youth Alliance, Chief Dr. Emeka Kalu, has as usual voiced his concern in a friendly appeal to the Supreme Court to correct the mistakes of the lower court because their decision will make Nigeria right of further doom her into endless spiral and political ruin that may consume everyone in it.
In his words, “We have experienced first hand the fact that this government has no respect for the rule of law as they have incessantly disobeyed court orders ,except the ones that favor their desires which they obey to the later with unprecedented speed and vigor.
“Therefore this impending Judgement of 11th November is a date on which the future of Nigeria is hanging on. I am believing with utmost faith that the Apex court will follow the path of dignity to salvage what is left of Nigeria because if they allow themselves to be eroded like the lower courts were subdued and annexed, then the end will be near as we may totally be sliding into total anarchy where the actions of a few will become the law of the nation. It will be and unpleasant experience.
“I am joining other millions of concerned Nigerians to appeal to the Supreme Court to tow the path of honor for the sake of our dear nation and I am sure that history will be kind to them” he said.
Chief Kalu further argued that this is another opportunity that has presented itself to the judicial system of Nigeria to either make or mar the continued existence of our dear nation – Nigeria.
