The Ohafia political think tank, Mben Political Assembly (MPA), has applauded an illustrious son of the community, Chief Dr. Sam Anya, on his appointment as Commissioner for Special Duties in Nigeria’s oil-rich Rivers State. The group also commended the state governor, His Excellency Siminalayi Fubara, for recognizing the exemplary qualities of the Ohafia icon and extending to him the invitation to contribute to the development of Rivers State, without ethnic and sectional biases.
Governor Fubara on Wednesday, August 14, swore in Dr. Anya and four others as commissioners in Port Harcourt, in an effort to strengthen the top political and administrative hierarchy of the state for utmost service delivery to residents.
Dr. Anya, who was previously Special Adviser on Non-Indigenes to the Governor, achieved a lot in his former role, evident in the inclusion he fostered across the state, amidst ethnic diversity, ensuring peace and order even as political actors stoked tension. The engineer cum consultant for local and international oil and gas consortiums has deployed his wealth to serve the needy and humanity, using his foundation, the Akaepkuchionwa Movement.
In a statement signed by the President of the MPA, Dr. Michael Mba, and the Director of Media and Publicity, Chief Emele Onu, the political think tank linked Dr. Anya’s appointment to his lofty background as a private sector technocrat, altruistic politician, and philanthropist.
The MPA enjoined the new commissioner to keep up his good work, justify the confidence the Rivers State government reposed in him, and continue to make Ohafia proud.
