It is a known fact that Girl children are facing emotional abuse, molestation, harassment, child abuse, neglect and zero parental care in addition to the already pre-existing issues they face. When girls are denied education, you are denying roughly half of the nation’s population from being emancipated and preventing progress. Until we generate public will, we cannot generate political will to force our leaders to do the right thing.”
“In Nigeria, it is a struggle for girls to survive childhood. They face multiple and systemic violence, abuse, and neglect based on their gender. They are victims of growing sexual abuse and exploitation, including human trafficking, abuse as domestic help, female genital cuttings, as well as early and forced marriages, among other harmful and discriminatory social norms.”
Dr. Samuel therefore urge all girl-children and mothers to be disciplined, consistent, courageous and continue to stay true to their convictions and never give up on their dreams. We have to do more to stem this deplorable number of rising abuse our girl children are facing and it behoves everyone to play their part.
We have to know that empowered girls have the ability to take care of themselves without going cap in hand to beg for support from anyone, who may want to use that as an opportunity to take advantage of them. It is therefore your right (as a girl-child) to be trained and empowered, and it is not an anomaly to raise and address challenges that are peculiar to the girl child.”
A girl child who attains financial independence insures her today, tomorrow and her future. This invariably cascades down to other people; other girl-child. Empowered girls grow into empowered women who can care better for themselves and their families.
The benefits of empowering the girl child leads to all round growth, which includes areas of authority, resources utilisation, information dissemination and accountability.
“We need every girl-child to own their voice and their story because they need to harness the voices to create a future where glass ceilings are easily shattered for those coming behind, to ensure girls get the rights and privileges they deserve.
Let us support the girl-child today. To all the Girl-children today, Dr. Samuel Uba Okorie, representing Arochukwu State Constituency loves you all.
