The Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has taken time to explain why some of the roads he contructed in Aba, especially Omuma Road, as well as other roads in the commercial city took some time to achieve. He said that contrary to unfounded tantrums from political opponents whose primary aim is to cast aspersions on his administration, he chose to remain focused because he knows that after his tenure, he will be wieghed by realities on ground, not my assumptions of political permutations.
Recall that OHAFIA TV News earlier reported that the Abia Online Media Practitioners Association (OMPAN), led by its state chairman, Chief Paddy Anyatonwu, paid the governor a courtesy visit at Governor’s lodge Aba where he also used the forum to inform the body of his administration’s spirited effort in the construction of many roads that can stand the test of time in Abia by using cement technology,
“Why I use cement, concrete with a 9-inch rod to construct roads is to build quality roads that will stand the test of time so that the person who will come after me will not go back to those roads I built, that is the only way we can recover our cities. It is only when we stop recycling the same roads that we can start constructing virgin roads” he pointed out.
The governor, therefore, challenged the media practitioners to be professional in the course of doing their job and avoid being hired by politicians because of their inordinate ambition to assassinate or distract the government from performing, emphasising that with the support and assistance of Abia Online Media practitioners Association in the promotion and projection of the state, the public will understand the true nature of the state and appreciate the administration’s giant strides.
Dr Ikpeazu reiterated that Abia state is strategic in the survival of Ndigbo, “therefore there is the need to be mindful of what we say or what we write about the state as it will go a long way to make mare the region”
According to the Governor, “You people are perception managers and you drive the society and shape opinions, you can put the state forward or backwards, depending on the image you decide to push forward.
“Perceptions when they go too far, it is difficult to come back so if you are not careful on who you promote, what you promote and the agenda you promote, you could realize that you are promoting something that will undermine you and your environment.
“But as opinion shapers, if you focus on what will make our society grow, and if you can set out what is good in an individual and promote the good virtues, it will go a long way to determine whether Abia state will grow or not”.
These and many more tooics formed the spirited chat with media professionals who expresssd delight for the privilege of having the governor’s audience amidst his tight schedule, promising to be objective and constructive in the discharge of their duties at all times.
