Mben Political Assembly, the think tank working for the integration of Ohafia clan to mainstream Abia State politics, has extolled Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for appointing another illustrious son of the community, Deputy Chief of Staff.
The Abia State Government appointed Barrister Olugu Kalu Ugba as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor on March 28, according to statement signed by the Secretary to the government on Monday. By the appointment, Barr. Ugba succeeds the former holder of the office, Chief Ukpai Agwu, equally an illustrious son of Ohafia, who passed on last year.
Barr. Ugba was Special Adviser to Abia State Governor on Special Duties before his present position. He is a lawyer, entrepreneur and community leader, who’s passionate about Ohafia, nay Abia State and is dedicated to the welfare of the people.
“He represents the stock Ohafia is made of and which we’re offering Abia State to help jumpstart development, ” Chief Lucas Eme Uche, President of the MPA said. “The appointment reinforces the confidence the Governor has on the capability of Ohafia people in governance as well his penchant for fairness and inclusion of diverse groups and interests in the administration of the state,” he said in a statement signed by the association’s Director of Publicity, Chief Emele Onu.
The MPA has been at the forefront of the agitation for Ohafia son or daughter to emerge Abia State Governor, come 2023, being the turn of Abia North zone to occupy the exalted office and also considering that the clan has been alienated in key political positions in the past.
The MPA has traversed communities, associations and political groups to make its case for the state’s top job. The effort is receiving wide acclaim and acceptance.
