OMPAN gathers feedback from locals, visits fifteen of Gov. Otti’s projects in Aba (See Images)

On Thursday, May 23, 2024, the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) Abia State embarked on a two-day tour of projects overseen by Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s administration in Aba. This marked the governor’s first anniversary in office. The tour aimed to inspect and gather feedback on the various projects to provide the public with an understanding of the administration’s achievements and to facilitate transparent reporting and information dissemination on government initiatives.

During the eight-hour tour, OMPAN visited numerous projects in Aba, including roads such as Ekeakpara Road, Geometric Road, Ariaria to Egberi Omuma route, Umuode Road, Umuocham Road, College Road, Green Avenue, University Road, Umuodu Road, Shalom Road, Umuimo Road, Port Harcourt Road, Old Court Road, Ehi Road, and Kent Street.

The group interacted with locals to gather their feedback on the projects. They found that while some roads had been improved, there were concerns about the pace of construction and completion of certain projects. For instance, locals expressed gratitude for the rehabilitation of Osisioma Ekeakpara Road but raised concerns about the contractors’ lack of urgency in completing the project.

At Ariaria Market Road, the ongoing development was noted, and locals expressed their appreciation for the improvements made under Governor Otti’s administration. Similarly, at Green Avenue, Shalom Road, Umuimo Road, Umuode, Umuocham Roads, Umueze, and Umba Akirika Road, positive feedback was received from residents who highlighted the transformation of the area due to the infrastructure developments.

The group also visited Port Harcourt Road, where the impact of the ongoing construction work by Julus Berger was evident. Local business owners expressed their gratitude for the revival of the area due to the improved road infrastructure.

Finally, the tour concluded with visits to Kent Street, Old Court Road, Ehi Road, and the location of the shopping centre. The completion of these roads was noted, and local vendors expressed their satisfaction with the improved infrastructure, citing increased economic activity, including the use of solar lights for evening commercial activities.

Throughout the tour, the overwhelming happiness of the residents with Governor Alex Otti’s initiatives in Aba was evident through their expressions of goodwill and prayers. The tour of the capital city and its surroundings continues today.
