During the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) nationwide hunger protest in Lagos, Police Commissioner Adegoke Fayoade revealed that the Lagos command provided water and biscuits to protesters to prevent fatigue and dehydration during the long trek under hot weather conditions.
Fayoade emphasized the importance of supporting protesters’ well-being to ensure a successful and safe demonstration. He described the gesture as a means to prevent anyone from collapsing due to exhaustion along the way.

Despite the refreshments being distributed from patrol vehicles, the protest remained peaceful, with no arrests made for any violations.
Fayoade assured continued police protection for protesters, reaffirming the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Lagos. He encouraged residents to collaborate with law enforcement agencies by providing timely information on criminal activities.
The nationwide protests organized by the NLC aimed to draw attention to the high cost of living attributed to increases in the prices of goods and services, petrol subsidy removal, and the depreciation of the naira.
