Gunmen killed a Nigerian singer-songwriter in Umubele, a community in Awka, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, southeast Nigeria.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning.
The victim, Ifeanyi Onah, also known as Slami, was said to be driving his newly purchased Lexus 330 SUV when he was attacked and killed by the gunmen.
A short video clip of the singer apparently recorded after being murdered has gone viral on social media.
In the clip, the singer is seen lying on the floor shirtless in a pool of his blood. Parts of his legs were still inside the Lexus 330 pickup with its doors wide open along the road.
“I was speechless when I received the news of your death, Ifeanyi. But I still don’t believe it because this is not what we discussed on the phone last week. What do you want your mom and dad to do”, Chijioke Okanmelu, another Facebook user, was aware on Tuesday.
Nnenna Onah, a family member of the slain singer, confirmed the incident to PREMIUM TIMES when contacted on Wednesday morning.
However, Ms. Onah said she was in no mood to elaborate on the incident.
There are speculations that the young singer may have been murdered.
The police spokesman in Anambra State, Tochukwu Ikenga, told this newspaper that he was unaware of the incident.
Apart from singing and writing songs, he was also a model and a Nollywood actor.
He was crowned Mr. Anambra Universe in 2015.
He was the founder of Slami Empire, a company that organized the Anambra Got Talent Show.
The singer studied sociology at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.
