Head of Communications of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EEDC), Mr. Emeka Ezeh, has attributed the prevailing non-supply of power to consumers in some parts of Abia and Anambra states for some days to series of faults recorded at some of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) stations (TCN) within its (EEDC) network.
In a statement, yesterday, he said in the early hours of Sunday, September 19, 2021, there was an explosion at Aba (Abia State) Transmission Station switchyard, which resulted in loss of supply to Alaoji Line 1, thereby impacting on supply to the whole of Aba and Ariaria in Abia State.
“As a result of this development, the following outgoing feeders have been without power supply. They are: Ehi Road 6.6KV; Aba Overhead 33KV; ECN Road T3B Aba Control 33KV/11KV, Aba Owerri 33KV, Ukwa 33KV, ECN Road T3A Aba Control 33KV/11KV, IGI 33KV and Aba-Umuahia 33KV,” the statement stated.
Ezeh, who also stated that since Thursday, September 16, 2021, customers in Awka, Ekwulobia and Ogidi in Anambra State have been without power supply due to tripping on the Onitsha-Oji 132KV line, which affected the Agu-Awka and Nibo TCN stations, added that the Nibo TR2, 15MVA, 33KV/11KV and TR4, 15MVA, 33KV/11KV, Neni 33KV, Agulu 33KV, Aguleri 33KV, Enugu Ukwu 33KV and Agu-Awka 33KV feeders, also in Anambra State, were all affected by the fault.
“As a service provider, this is quite challenging, as the situation has negatively impacted on service delivery to the esteemed customers within these affected areas, as well as the revenue the company is expected to generate from the customers,” he said.
He, however, said that EEDC teams had been in constant touch with the TCN and doing the needful to ensure that the faults are cleared within the earliest possible time and restore supply to the affected areas, saying: “We sincerely regret the inconveniences the situation has caused the esteemed customers and assure that supply will be restored once TCN is done with the clearing of these faults.”
