Mben Political Assembly (MPA), the think tank pushing for a governor of Ohafia extraction for Abia State in 2023, has applauded Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for appointing two illustrious sons of the community commissioners and also naming a daughter of the area, in a recent political appointment.
Governor Ikpeazu approved 27 commissioner nominees, including Chief Kingsley Imaga and Chidiebere Uwagwu Kalu, both from Ohafia clan, according to government statement on Sunday. The government had earlier appointed Chief Mrs Love Ezema, Principal Secretary for the Office of the Wife of the Governor.
The MPA described the appointments as significant, coming at a time it is offering its sons and daughters for consideration by the generality of Abia people, for various political positions, expecially the Governorship, at the next poll.
“The individuals so appointed and many others equally qualified and ready to serve our dear state in various capacities, exemplify the finest stock Ohafia is made of'” Chief Lucas Eme Uche, President of the MPA said in a statement. “We have the human resources to support and uplift our state across the facets of development,” he said.
Chief Imaga had served Abia State meritoriously in the past, including as Commissioner for Transport while Chidiebere Uwagwu Kalu, a youthful politician was one-time state representative for the National Youth Council of Nigeria. The appointees including Mrs Ezema have made enviable footprints in the politics of the state.
It will be recalled that MPA is agitating for an Ohafia son or daughter to be elected Governor of Abia State, come 2023. The move, which is seen by many as fair and just, is getting wide support across the 17 local government areas of the state.
