The first matriculation of Uma Ukpai Polytechnic yesterday took place at the main campus of the institution, located at Asaga Ohafia in Ohafia local government area of Abia state.

The polytechnic according to the founder Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai is poised to cause a paradigm shift in the depleting education standard in the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Abia state governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu urged the students to be of good behaviour and be worthy ambassadors of the institution wherever they may find themselves. Also present at the ceremony was the State Commissioner for Education Prof. Ikechi Mgboji and the Deputy Chief of Staff, Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, Commissioner for Education Cross River state and others.
