• More than four feared dead in Abia-Cross River communal clash.

AT least, four persons were confirmed dead and many houses burnt in a communal conflict between two communities in Abia and Cross Rivers states.

OhafiaTV correspondence who visited the community with other Media Teams on a facts finding Mission with the ABIA State honourable Commissioned for Boundary, said the two communities are Iheosu in Isu Kingdom, Arochukwu LGA of Abia State and Utuma in Odukpani in Cross River State.

The Hon. Commissioner, Hon. Obike Mascot condemned the gruesome and ghastly attack on Iheosu Isu community.

“The Abia state government in conjunction with security agencies is working hard to ensure that peace and tranquility returns to Isu community so that people can sleeps with their two eyes closed. It is expedient for the affected community to resume their daily economic activities”. Hon Obike said.

Members of the affected community now live in neighbouring clans of Obieze and Ututu. A situation the Honourable described as unacceptable.

Also speaking at the visit, the Eze of Isu community Eze (Dr) Ogbonnaya Eze, specially thank the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for his prompt response to their plight, and pledged to liaise with the Local government council Authority to find a peaceful end to the crisis as they pray for tranquility and normalcy to return to the community.

An aggrieved youth while speaking with newsmen said the invasion on his people on Friday 27th April, was unjust and pathetic, and called on the federal government for more assistance to settle the conflict.

The Iheosu village has been deserted and road leading to the community is blocked by Utuma community from further assess to the Iheosu community.

Meanwhile, the Abia state government through the Commissioner for Boundary, Hon. Obike Mascot reassured peace and urged the affected community not to take laws into their hands as the state is working tirelessly to boost security and restore peace to the affected communities.

Food items and blankets were distributed to the displaced persons on the visit.

Also at the visit were the Hon. commissioner for Small and medium scale enterprises, Barr. Igboko, Secretary to Abia state Government, Dr. Emenike Okoro, Chief MOA Ohuabunwa (Senator rep. Abia North), Hon. Ikechukwu Iroha (SSA to Abia State Governor on media), Comr. Idika Michael (President, Abia North Youth Coalition), Area Commander of Police and host of others.
