The choice of who becomes the next governor of Abia state come 2023 is getting clearer as the candidacy of Dr Ukpai Iro Ukpai of the New Nigeria People’s Party received massive boost over the weekend when foremost christian organization, Abia Christian Community, ACC, declared Dr. Ukpai as their best choice for the exalted post in the coming 2023 governorship election in the state.
According to the group, “While other groups are bringing the governorship candidates together in an interactive forum with the intention of picking the best, ACC believes that outward appearance is very deceptive and has not helped us since 1999 till date. We decided that since we have God who has come to deliver Abia to wait upon Him in a humble desire for Him to reveal His choice for Abia, we better wait to hear from Him.
Graciously this paid off. Today we are proud of our God, He still answers the prayers of His people.” they said
Speaking further the foremost Christian Community, an umbrella body of all christian organizations in Abia said they made the choice after days of prayer and fasting and has the confidence that God has anointed Dr Ukpai in the order of David, to destroy the foundations of idolatry in Abia seat of power, to reduce our pains and take away our shame. A man with the mandate to restore the God factor and community life and put Abia on the speed lane of progress.” they continued.
You will recall that the New Nigeria people’s Party in Abia State is growing rapidly by the day and has lined up other candidates in various elective positions for the 2023 general election, among them are Hon Ugochukwu Brown Ugba, Isiukwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon Ukoha Ofon Kalu (Moscow) Abia state house of assembly candidate, Ohafia South, others are Hon Ifeanyi Igwe, house of Assembly candidate, Aba central and Hon Hilary Ejike, Ugwunagbo state constituency.
In his words the leader of the group, Pastor Reminder C Gad said “in 2005 when the Lord showed me the horrible picture of Abia and how our leaders for quest for power sold the land into idolatry, He said that the redemption of Abia lies in the hand of the church.
What we have done is to stand as trail Blazer to help give direction to the church.
We request our fathers of faith, the pastors and the church at large to rise and take responsibility. In every dispensation God gives a man who will stand in the gap. Today God has given us Dr Ukpai Iro Ukpai.
However on that fateful day Pilate presented to the Jews Jesus and Barnabas and asked them to choose but the Jews influenced by envious religious leaders chose Barrabas.
I have as a prophet fulfilled my prophetic role, I have fulfilled my mission, it is now left to the church and entire Abians to make their choice. The church has a critical choice to make in this political dispensation and I pray it will be a right one.” he said.
In his response, the governorship hopeful, Dr. Ukpai assured Abians of government of inclusivity and promised to positively change the fortune of the state from manual operation to technology driven governance.
“In today’s political realities and in the context of 2023 elections, politics and politicking, good governance is not predicated on party leanings and affiliation. Rather, it’s on individual variables, which have to do with the candidate’s credibility, competence, mental balance, professional dexterity, intellectual stimulus and unwavering passion for responsible and people-centred governance.
All that we need in Abia State at this material time is a man, with credibility, leadership cognition, character credential, intellectual stimulus, professional confidence and dexterity, social poise, development greed, the tenacity to advance his political will and moral imagination in order to protect and promote the interests of all in the state, including the big shoes, the plebians and to the hoi polloi. ” He said.
Ukpai, promised to serve the privileged and the less-privileged with equity, fairness, justice and with equanimity and relish.
