Five people were detained in Kurmi village in Bakori Local Government Area, according to the Katsina State Police Command, after it was discovered that they were in unlawful possession of an AK-47 gun.
This was revealed to reporters in Katsina on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu.
“On December 19, 2023, our operatives attached to Bakori divisional police headquarters, working with vigilante members while on patrol, successfully identified and apprehended five suspects based on credible intelligence.”
The suspects are 20-year-old Sharhabilu Dahiru, 25-year-old Abubakar Tukur, 20-year-old Kasamanu Abdullahi, 20-year-old Abdulrahman Shu’aibu, and 20-year-old Sulaiman Sanusi.
Lawal was invited right away for a follow-up inquiry into his unlawful possession of the AK-47 rifle because of the gravity of the crime.
Sadiq-Aliyu declared, “All the suspects are from Bakori LGA, specifically Kakumi village.”
He continued by saying that the suspects quickly admitted under interrogation that they had taken the aforementioned gun from the home of a Jamilu Lawal in the same village.
A police spokeswoman stated, “All suspects are in custody as the investigation proceeds.”
