Gunmen kidnapped a businessman in Ogun state, Segun Oparinde, on Tuesday after he was ambushed while driving to his residence.
Witnesses said the incident happened around 11 pm in Imeko in the Imeko-Afon local government area of the state.
The gunmen reportedly drove off in the victim’s car after shooting his brother-in-law, Bello Ibrahim, in the leg.
Ibrahim had run out of the house after hearing his brother-in-law’s screams.
“He is receiving treatment at Imeko General Hospital,” a resident said.
The resident said that after the gunmen left with Mr. Oparinde, they then abandoned their car at the roadside and entered the bush.
“We have not yet received help from security agencies. We have called the police and the Amotekun Corps. We want the government to be serious and help us with this.”
Contacted, the Ogun State Police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident.
Oyeyemi added that the police are behind the kidnappers.
“All they spent on the operation was not even five minutes, but by the grace of God we will locate them.”
