“I believe in a relatively equal society, supported by institutions that limit extremes of wealth and poverty. I believe in democracy, civil liberties, and the rule of law. That makes me a liberal, and I’m proud of it.” ― Paul Krugman
Brothers, Sisters, Comrades and Fellow Constituents…
I urge us to build a better politics. One that’s less of a spectacle and more of a battle of ideas. Where we come together to settle our differences and do big things together that we could not possibly do alone.
In Arochukwu State Constituency, politicians should not pick their voters, voters should pick their politicians. Why? Simply because you wouldn’t let your grandparents pick your wife for you. Why then, would you let them pick your representative who’s going to determine your future?”
“If by a “Novice in politics” they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people – their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties – someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a “Novice in Politics”, then I’m proud to say I’m a “Novice in Politics” ― Dr. Samuel Uba Okorie
