A bus driver has died and several of his passengers were injured in an accident at Marwa Bus Stop along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos State.
The accident, which occurred around 10.44 am on Saturday, involved a Volkswagen bus, which rammed into a Toyota Highlander while trying to beat the traffic light, which was about to turn red.
The bus driver was said to have died, while passengers on the bus sustained injuries and were hospitalized.
The Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State, Olusegun Ogungbemigbe, confirmed the accident on Sunday.Related News
He said the Volkswagen bus driver rammed into the Highlander while trying to beat the traffic light, which made the bus somersault.
“Unfortunately, the bus driver died, while several passengers were injured and taken to a hospital.
“The victims were already rescued by a team of the Lekki Concession Company before the arrival of men of the FRSC.
“The bus was recovered with the aid of the LCC’s tow truck,” he added.
