ABUJA – The Governorship Candidate of Action Democratic Party, ADP, Mr Chbuiike Jonas, has made a strong case for good governance in Abia State as the only panacea to changing the status quo of a dilapidating state she has found herself in, to a better trajectory of even development across the board. This was contained in an interview he granted to the press, monitored by OHAFIA TV News at the ADP National Secretariat Abuja during the presentation and acceptance ceremony of Pastor Okey Udo as the Running Mate of Dr Y. Y. Sani for Nigeria Presidency come 2023.
Among other critical issues raised in the interview, the case of non-payment of workers’ salaries, pensions, and other emoluments took preeminence, he insisted that any failure of government in that direction is a crime against humanity because even the Bible acknowledges that “a worker is worthy of his wage”, wondering what wickedness will make a government owe her workers.
Asked what will be his approach and possible solutions to this ugly normal purveying Abia Senior Citizens, he said that he never owned workers’ salaries as a Local Government Chairman, notwithstanding the limited funds available to him, and assured that handling the issue within a few months in office will be one of his greatest priorities.
“I am in the gubernatorial race to make a clear difference in the governance of Abia State. Our state has been badly managed. We are faced with the problems of bad roads as well as non-payment of salaries and pensions. But I’m here to bring forthright development in the state,” he assured.
“I did it as Arochukwu LGA Chairman when I started and completed 52 projects in one year and eight months. All we require is prayers and hard work to win the election to take Abia to the future we all deserve. I will divide Abia State’s infrastructural development into 3 senatorial Districts and achieve kilometres of roads around these zones within the first 100 days in the office”, he explained.
Mr Jonas also vowed to build Abia State along the path of ICT to boost SMEs by partnering with Banks for startup flexible loans that will guarantee productivity.
He, therefore, appealed to ADP members to take the message to every nook and cranny of Abia “to convince the electorate to vote ADP into power in 2023.”
