A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Abia State, Chief Kalu Idika Okwara, has cautioned the party against imposing an unpopular candidate for the 2023 gubernatorial contest.
Idika Okwara said this is because imposition of candidates may not augur well for the PDP in the general elections.
He stated this on Monday while addressing PDP Social Media Influencers at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
The governorship hopeful called on the National Working Committee, NWC, to watch developments in Abia State with interest.
According to him,
“The governor as the leader of the party in Abia State should have allowed the governoship return to Abia North senatorial district and allow the aspirants to test their popularity.
“It will not be in the interest of the party if anyone impose a candidate on the party,
because we will run the risk of losing the 2023 election,” Idika Okwara said.
