Yesterday, Sunday, January 23, 2022, The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of IOK Educational Foundation, hosted the 26 Traditional Rulers in Abam, led by her Chairman, HRH, Eze Uka Oji at his residence in Ozu Abam, Arochukwu LGA, where the Revered Monarchs conferred on him, the Chieftaincy Title of DIKEOGU 1 OF ABAM ONYERUBI.
Prince Ike Okorafor said the Traditional Rulers been the Custodians of Culture and Traditions of any community should be appreciated and encouraged, even as they strive to maintain peace and unity in Abam, hence, why he hosted them to appreciate their efforts and ingenuity.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman, Abam Traditional Rulers Council, HRH, Eze Uka Oji expressed deep gratitude to their host, Prince Ike Okorafor for the warm reception and hospitality accorded to them, and described him as a great son of the soil, whose feats and laudable achievements will remain evergreen in the minds of Abam people.
Eze Uka Oji said Prince Ike Okorafor has used his foundation, IOK Educational Foundation to impact lives positively by empowering the youths, women while scores of students are beneficiaries of his scholarship scheme in Primary, Secondary and Institutions of higher learning, adding that the conferment of chieftaincy title of DIKEOGU 1 OF ABAM ONYERUBI to him, was an unanimous decision taken by the entire Traditional Rulers in Abam in recognition of his leadership ability, dexterity, courage, and always standing on the path of truth.
” Prince Ike Okorafor is a great voice of Abam, fighting with bravery, the emancipation and development of Abam Onyerubi. We are proud of him, he has set a pace in Abam”.
Continuing, he said, ” Prince Ike Okorafor has left footprints on the sands of time, he is humble, fearless, selfless and accessible, he has silently touched the lives of his community positively. He is a fighter, defender and unifier of his people. His courage, honestly and humanitarian acts have earned him the trust of the people and his community in Ozu Abam, Arochukwu LGA, hence, why we are here to give honour to whom honour, in appreciation of his good works”.
In his speech, Prince Ike Okorafor thanked the Abam Traditional Rulers for the honour bestowed on him. He promised never to relent in impacting lives positively and reassured that he will continue to use his foundation, to better the lives of Abam and beyond.
DIKEOGU 1 said his foundation, under the annual Accord projects, has embarked on numerous projects and empowerment programmes which includes the sponsorship of a program titled, “Project one Pad”, where he provided a large number of sanitary pads for young rural girls, empowered more than 500 rural youths while others are beneficiaries of his scholarship, the launching of the Agro Rural Aid aimed to ensure food security in the rural communities, the Maternal Health Improvement program where the rural women were empowered with the critical skills and sensitized on pregnancy health-related issues, health interventions to the downtrodden, including the payment of monthly stipends to more than 20 aged men and women to reduce their hardship, among others.
” I will continue to reduce the suffering of the populace, through the provision of basic amenities, mentorship, empowerment, education and health interventions, and charity to the less privileged”, he concluded.
Equally, the Abam Traditional Rulers also conferred on the Deputy Speaker and the member representing Ohafia South State Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu a chieftaincy title of IKEMBA 1 OF ABAM ONYERUBI by the Abam Monarchs in appreciation of his legacy projects and effective representation to his constituents and at the Abia House of Assembly.
The Deputy Speaker, thanked his host, Prince Ike Okorafor and the Abam Monarchs, for the special recognition accorded to him, pledges his commitment to keeping attracting dividends of democracy to his constituents and beyond. He charged Abam people to always feel free to seek his assistance, as he is always ready to extend his magnanimity and goodwill to them.
Side attraction of the ceremony includes a thrilling performance and display by the Ohafia War Dance, while the epoch-making events attracted the presence of family, friends and well-wishers of the Chief Host, Prince Ike Okorafor.
