The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved the right to 14-day paternity leave for male Federal civil servants to allow them to bond with their newborn babies.
The Head of Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan made the development known to State House Correspondents shortly after the week’s virtual FEC meeting.
Dr. Folasade revealed that the decision was to enable proper bonding between the father and a newborn.
According to her, the development applies to fathers of either natural-born or adopted children.
Mrs Yemi -Esan further explained that fathers of adopted babies of less than four months will also enjoy the same
gesture.
The FEC meeting was presided over by Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) as President Muhammadu Buhari has not made any public appearance since his reported return from the United States.
