Abam Onyerubi: Leadership is the ability to get extraordinary achievement from ordinary people. An excellent leader employs integrity, dexterity, intelligence, goodwill, and leadership skills to create events that shape not on today but footprints on the sands of time, Prince Ike Okoroafor has cut in a niche for himself in this respect.

It was Sir Emerson Green that opines that the most treasured rewards in service are those feelings which come from within oneself, the feeling that accompanies the knowledge that one has selflessly made the ordinary men happy and the society better.

On this note, I want to introduce a charismatic leader who is not only humility personified but accessible. A leader who has silently touched the lives of his community and beyond. He is Prince Ike Okorafor, a fighter, defender, and unifier of his people. A fearless leader who doesn’t send his people to war but stays and fights with them and leads by example.

Thus when Prince Ike Okorafor, the grandson of His Royal Highness Eze (Dr.) Ike Okoroafor (Onyerubi II of Abam) of blessed memory was born, little did his parents know that he was divinely created to make positive impacts, until after graduation from the Abia State University, Uturu and subsequently working as the Chief Executive Officer of Evolette Resources Nigeria Limited.

The Nigerian born American trained Political Scientist and Public Health Researcher who is also called “Ikemba 1 of Abam” by friends both at home and in the diaspora holds a Bachelors degree in Government/ Public Administration from Abia State University, Uturu, Nigeria,

• A Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) from the Federal College of Education, Zaria, Nigeria,

• Masters degree in Political Science from Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus, New York, USA.

• MPh in Public Health ( in view) Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus, New York, USA and a member of National and International Professional bodies such as:

• Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria.

• Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria

• Federated Teachers of New York City, USA.

• Young Professionals in Foreign Policy, New York, USA among others.

Prince Ike Okorafor’s selflessness, humility, philanthropies, courage, and honesty has earned him the trust of the people and his community in Ozu Abam, Arochukwu LGA.

As a crusader for good governance, an advocate of social justice( a trait that propelled him to invest in humanity ), a secret achiever, kind, approachable, and result-oriented leader, Prince Ike Okorafor has carved a niche for himself and has remained positively on the life of not just his community but others who have witnessed his magnanimity.

In 2019, the young enthusiastic Ike Okorafor powered a program titled “Project One Pad”, where he provided a large number of sanitary pads for young rural girls who just attended the puberty stage and empowered them with the critical information and skills to ensure proper hygiene.

In 2020, he organized the Accord project where more than 500 rural youths benefited from guest speakers as many were awarded scholarships among other cash prizes.

To crown it all, in this new year 2021, Ike Okorafor has launched a program tagged “Agro Rural Aid”  a platform to ensure food security in the rural communities and to ensure he leads by example, he has completed a multimillion naira farm “Evolette Farms” where young people would be trained and certified to become drivers of development. This farm has commenced production on January 10, 2021.

To further reduce hardship faced by the elderly, Ike Okorafor has more than 20 aged men and women who received monthly stipends in order to give them dawn of new hope.

In the words of the Former President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, opines thus, Each time a man stands up for an ideal or acts to improve a lot of others or strikes out against injustices, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope and those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

Ike Okorafor is neither a political office holder nor seeking for one at the moment, rather his vision and mission statement has been to continue to reduce the sufferings of the populace, through the provision of basic amenities, mentorship, empowerment, education, and charity to the less privileged.
