Today at the site of new Nmuri Bridge Project we embarked upon last week, Hartland Setraco Construction Company in company of men of the Nigerian Army interrupted our Engineer and his men at the site.
According to the Construction Company, the road which is a Federal Road had been awarded to their company for reconstruction by the Federal Government.
They warned that if we continued work on the new Nmuri Bridge, it would amount to interfering in the plans of the Federal Government whose responsibility it is to ensure that the road/bridge is in good state. They went on to inform our men at the site that whatever job they had done at the site would be pulled down and hence the need for them to discontinue.
After I received the report from our own Engineer, I quickly put a call across to my brother and our Federal Representative (Arochukwu/Ohafia Constituency), Hon. Uko Nkole to inform him of the latest development. He confirmed that it was true and that work will soon commence at the Nmuri Bridge by the above Construction Company. He assured that he will follow it up to ensure that the Federal Contractors starts up work at the site in no distance time.
With this development, I want to announce that we will obey the instruction of Hartland Setraco Construction Company and our Federal Law Maker, Hon. Uko Nkole to henceforth hands off from the construction of a new bridge at Nmuri.
We had embarked on this project to alleviate the plights of our people due to the dilapidated nature of the old Nmuri Bridge. Though we have spent some funds already, we have deemed it fit to adhere to instructions from various stakeholders concerning the issue.
We shall continue to look out for ways by which we can bring more dividends of democracy to our people of Ohafia South Constituency. The funds that would have been used to complete this project can now be used to complete other ongoing projects we are working on and even initiate new ones for the betterment of our people.
On this note I want to thank our dear Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for standing by us and ensuring that we get all the necessary assistance we needed in improving the lives of our people at the rural areas.
I also want to thank my brother and senior colleague, Hon. Uko Nkole (Member Representing Ohafia/Arochukwu Federal Constituency) for his efforts in pushing for the rehabilitation of the Bridge/Federal Road. I want to plead with him to follow up the situation as promised for the take off and to ensure the speedy completion of the bridge due to it’s importance to our people.
We shall continue to work together to deliver more important projects to our people.
Thank You.
