This is our second area of interest. IOK foundation aims to reduce the suffering of people who have little access to basic amenities like education because of poverty.
Since women and children across the world are more likely to experience extreme poor health, IOK Foundation’s programs concentrate on these particular populations.
Many people in developed countries may not understand what it means for a child to hawk sachet water two times a week so as to attend classes for the remaining three ways of the week. That’s because their government understands fully their primary objective as an institution and their economy is excellent.
However, in many parts of the world, women go through prolonged suffering to train their children.
The aim of our NGO is to assist those parents who, having selected private education for their children with reasonable expectations of being able to meet the considerable costs from their own resources, are unable to pay the fees as a result of genuine hardship, arising from an unforeseen change of circumstances. This is in pursuant to goal 2 of the MDGs which deals with Universal Basic Education. This goal appears not to be feasible mostly in Nigeria having been radically undercut by poverty, bad governance, rural-urban migration, and international students’ mobility trends.
Nigeria has the largest number of children in the world who are not being educated. This is confirmed by the acknowledgment made by the Education ministry’s permanent secretary Adamu Hussaini Adamu when he noted that Nigeria had 10.5 million children out of school. ( BBC News Jul 27, 2017). This is the first time senior officials have admitted the size of the educational problems facing Nigerian children.
Cultural factors, a noncommittal attitude of political leaders, system failure, sorry- state of the Nigerian economy and moribund state of the educational system have been blamed but critics point to a lack of money going to publicly funded schools.
The UN’s Children’s Agency, UNICEF, has been campaigning on this issue as well as a number of other groups. The interest of IOK Foundation lies deeply in this particular area knowing that women and children deserve to be happy. we are therefore on course to ensure that charity is extended to rural school children who are despaired by the system that torture.
