For a while now, OHAFIA-TV News have been following the developing inhuman treatment going on in Benin Republic prisons under the government of President Patrice Talon, even as they have continued to disobey the directives of United Nations for prison facilities around the world to decongest their facilities to avoid possible contamination and spread of the novel pandemic among inmates.

At first, we brought the attention of the world to the fact that the money Benin Republic Government received per head of the inmates are channeled to other personal uses as the inmates are faced with the challenge of either feeling themselves or die in the prison. The drugs they receive in behalf of the inmates are sold back to them when they’re sick or sold outside to chemists where they go and buy same drugs. This is not the true spirit or Africanism.

The nature of food being served them are said to be food meant for pigs, so as an alternative, you either eat the “Pig Food” or buy from Kiosks set up by prison authorities to make money out of inmates they’re already making money on their head from United Nations.

According information gathered by OHAFIA-TV News, this exposure infuriated the authority that they initiated a room to room search to fish out people leaking their wicked methods to the world. The measure employed included coaxing, beating the inmates and arresting and confining some inmates in more severe conditions which resulted in rioting the next day and the inmates causing some damages.
In the process, they discovered that most of the drugs in the pharmacy meant for the inmates have expired and lamented that they still sell these expired drugs to them so that the prison authority will even make more money.

Afterward, the resultant effect of the rioting of the inmates is said to be very devastating as they were lined up under the Sun the next morning and beaten till sundown just to deter them from speaking to the world, OHAFIA-TV News further gathered.

The latest developments which has necessitated our making another call on UN, AU and ECOWAS to intervene and investigate Benin Republic in this dastardly act of human right abuse and violation of rights of prisoners, is that, from 3 days ago, the prison authority are forcing the Prisoners to take pills for 10 days, morning and evening without any explanation to what the pills are for nor what the pills are.

It is clear that no vaccine or drugs has been approved for treatment or prevention of Coronavirus, therefore the world should ask why the Benin Republic Prisons authority are forcing the inmates to take pills they fear may be expired Chloroguine pills all in the name of preventing Coronavirus.

It is the duty of the world bodies and African bodies to protect the lives of prisoners whose reason for being held is for correctional purposes and not as guinea pigs for experiment and money making tools.

We also believe that Benin Republic is not a world of it’s own to blatantly continue to disobey the instruction of the United Nations to free her prisoners at this critical time of Coronavirus as an outbreak in the prisons will become the world’s greatest undoing to humanity.
