The Arochukwu LGA PDP Stakeholders has hold their meeting today, Friday 20/3/20 at Colonial Building (Chairman’s Lodge) Arochukwu and had in attendance, the member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole.
Highlights of the meeting include the harmonizing of the candidates for the forth-coming Local Government Congress of PDP slated for Saturday, 21/3/20.
The meeting which commenced with an opening prayer by Mazi Luke Kanu was adjudged peaceful and well organized. The TC Chairman Arochukwu LGA presented kolanut as Dr. Sunny Nwafor blessed the kolanut thus setting the meeting rolling.
In his remark, Rt. Hon. Nkole thanked all party faithful present despite their numerous engagements. He assured them that Arochukwu LGA PDP will get it right this time to ensure that the party returns to her winning ways.
In his words “Our chief aim is to assure our party members that we are working hard to ensure that our party returns to the winning ways as all hands are on deck to get it right this time.
“I therefore thank every party members who has remained faithful and committed to the success, unity and progress of the party at all times despite your personal endeavors and tight schedule even to attend the meeting today” his statement reads.
However, the stakeholders complained about the activities of some persons whom they described as Umuahia politicians that have relocated the internal affairs of the local government to Umuahia and wondered the place of grassroot in the whole affairs praised the Honorable member for always finding time to reach them. A complaint he also assured them would be addressed with the seriousness it deserves.
“Henceforth, members of the party will be benefiting on meritorious ground as the era of when another man works another benefits has gone” Hon Uko assured them.
The meeting was later dissolved into the various clans of Arochukwu LGA which includes; Arochukwu, Ututu, Ihechiowa, Abam and Isu to deliberate and produce in harmony the LGA executives ceded to them. The meeting reconvened after the clans came up with their harmonized lists.
On re-convention, the positions of the leadership of the party were zoned as follows:
Abam Clan – Chairman, Financial Secretary, Youth Leader, Publicity Secretary and Legal Adviser.
Arochukwu Clan – Woman Leader, Organising Secretary, Treasurer and Ex-Officio.
Ihechiowa Clan – Deputy Chairman, Assistant Secretary, Assistant Publicity Secretary and Ex-Officio. Ututu Clan – Auditor and Ex-Officio and
Isu Clan – Secretary and Ex-Officio.
Still in purview, Rt. Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole equally advised party members to observe high level of hygiene in the spate of the dreaded Coronavirus disease – COVID-19 ravaging the world at this time. He went ahead to demonstrate to them by washing his hands and rubbing same with some quantity of dry gin as an improvise due to the absence of hand sanitizer.
The TC Chairman, Mazi Kanu thanked him for coming to address them, he promised that they will work as one body for the overall development and progress of Arochukwu LGA in particular and Abia State in general.
The meeting was graced by many personalities of the party which includes but not limited to: Mazi Emmanuel Jideofor Kanu, TC Chairman Arochukwu LGA, Hon. Onyema Ogbuagu, Deputy TC Chairman, Arochukwu LGA, Chief Dan Abah, former Deputy Chairman, Arochukwu LGA, Mrs. Grace Chijioke, Deputy Chairman, PDP Arochukwu LGA, Hon. Chris Egbugbu, Leader from Eleoha Ward, Ihechiowa, Hon. Tony Okeke, past and present TC Councillors as well as Ward Chairmen and others numbering over 80.
The well attended meeting came to a close with prayers offered by Mrs. Grace Chijioke at about 1.30pm.
