The member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Hon. Uko Nkole has received with rude shock the news of the unprovoked and relentless attack on ISU Communities by their Cross River State Border Neighbours of UTUMA and their Cohorts on Friday 21st April, 2018.
From the testimonies and evidence gathered without mincing word, he stated that the situation on ground is alarming and very pathetic as the ugly and unacceptable development led to his immediate action of raising a motion of urgent National Importance calling on Mr. President to immediately direct the deployment of Armed Forces on permanent basis to the Isu beach line communities as an urgent decisive measure to stop further escalation of the crisis and to stop the ugly perennial humanitarian crisis.
Speaking further, Hon. Uko called on the National Boundary Commission to urgently demarcate the boundaries and National Emergency Management Agency to send relief items and also attend to health challenges of the Internal Displaced persons caused by the crisis in the affected Communities of IHEOSU, ABA, and AMACHI that have all without exception fled their homes to neighboring Communities for the safety of their lives while their houses have been burnt and lives lost.
Contributing his quota to the well being of the affected communities, the federal lawmaker on Wednesday, 25th April 2018 dispatched a team to commiserate and donate food items and cash to the affected constituents while waiting for the Federal government’s intervention noting that It is distressing and disheartening to observe that up till now, nothing concrete has been achieved to restore normalcy in the affected Communities by the Police authorities so far.
Hon. Nkole used the medium to thank the sister communities of Obieze and Ututu for being their brothers keeper and also the authorities of 14 Brigade Commander for their efforts while awaiting the presidents approval to fully deploy the military on permanent basis to the crisis prone area to return normalcy and allow the farmers access their farms, the children to resume their academics and bury the remains of their loved ones killed as a result of the inter state boundary clashes.
