The Abia State government has announced a significant development in the education sector, approving the recruitment of 5,300 teachers and lecturers who have successfully passed the recruitment interviews.
This decision was made public by the State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, during a press briefing in Umuhaia, the state capital.

According to Prince Kanu, the successful candidates have cleared the recruitment process and will soon be formally employed. In a further move to bolster the state’s educational workforce, the government plans to initiate another recruitment drive in the coming days. The Commissioner revealed that the application portal for this second phase of recruitment will open shortly, providing opportunities for more qualified individuals to join the state’s teaching and lecturing staff.
This development underscores the Abia State government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education in the state by ensuring that schools and educational institutions are adequately staffed with qualified professionals. The initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s education sector, providing more opportunities for students and improving the overall learning environment.
