The revered Igbo group Ohanaeze Ndigbo has condemned the incompetence, nepotism-based appointments, and corruption that have plagued the Buhari and Tinubu administrations, respectively, which has contributed to the present economic crisis, inflation, and uncertainty in Nigeria. Essential commodity prices have soared to record levels, causing enormous pain for Nigerians.
The widespread indignation in the nation is a reflection of the intolerable suffering caused by the constant threat of starvation that its inhabitants face. Nigerians have become tired of the federal government’s empty promises, which have been made worse by the Naira’s depreciation as a result of the current FX exchange scenario. It is imperative that we address the people’s issues without delay.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo firmly believes that in order to fix the economy and find solutions for Nigeria’s welfare, it is essential to seek advice from respected economists like Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, and others, and that this advice should be given purely on the basis of merit and not based on tribe or origin.
President Tinubu is strongly advised by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretary-General Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro that the key to success is to have real and meaningful discussions with these eminent economists. We can alleviate the financial strain on government by tapping into their knowledge and experience to quickly and concretely plan for Nigeria’s economic revival.
Tinubu has to start again and do away with this economic team because they clearly aren’t competent, creative, or determined enough to get the economy out of its current jam. The patience of Nigerians is quickly dwindling as the country verges on anarchy. Ohanaeze Ndigbo begs God to show President Tinubu the light, away from his sycophantic assistants, so that he can surround himself with capable people who can save Nigeria’s economy.
Finally, Ohanaeze Ndigbo firmly promises to always stand out for the rights and interests of every Nigerian. We must act swiftly and decisively to alleviate the current economic challenges that our country is facing. We beg President Tinubu to listen to our advice and act now to ensure that all Nigerians have a bright future.
