On Thursday night, unidentified gunmen broke into the Koro community in Kwara State’s Ekiti Local Government Area, killing General Segun Aremu (rtd), the town’s king, and kidnapping his wife and two other people.
The incident was confirmed by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who denounced the assassination of the Olukoro of Koro as senseless, horrible, and abhorrent.

He tasked the security services to utilise every technique at their disposal to find the offenders, release the spouse and any other people who had been held captive, and prosecute the offenders.
“We will undoubtedly apprehend those responsible and guarantee that this will be their final transgression against humanity,” the Governor declared, extending his sincere sympathies to the residents of Koro.
In a statement released on Thursday night in Ilorin by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, he stated, “Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always.”
The development was verified to DAILY POST by a flawless source in the state police command in Ilorin. The source further stated that police officers have started an investigation concurrently with the start of a search and rescue operation for the victims who were kidnapped.
The source further revealed that the late monarch’s palace is now home to the Divisional Police Officer overseeing the area.
The towns of Irele/Oke, Ako/Ipao/Oke Aiyedun, and Ikole in Ekiti State are bordering communities of Koro village in Kwara State.
Three monarchs were recently attacked in the Ekiti communities; two of them were gunned down by the attackers, while the third managed to flee.
