Following the recent revelation trending on social media, by a frustrated female officer alleging sexual harassment and possible threat to life by her tormentors, the President of ECK Foundation, Chief Dr Emeka Kalu, has called on the Nigeria Military Authority to properly investigate such heavy accusation which if not properly handled may dent the image and reputation of the esteemed army both at home and in the eye of the world. The detailed report as published by SaharaReporters is mind bugging.
“My position is premised on the lines of submission made by the affected person, who has thrown caution to the wind to come out public. This is an opportunity to curb and fastal possible similar occurrences where the victims may not be bold enough to come public while the decay continue to happen” he suggested.
The girl wrote:
“I know definitely they will come for me. They will lock me up and they will dismiss me but I don’t care. I can’t endure again. Before coming out to make this video, I can’t endure again. I don’t want to die young.
“If anything should happen to me, please hold Col. I.B. Abdulkareem, Col. G.S. Ogor and Brig. Gen. I.B. Solebo responsible, because they don’t want me to grow. They don’t want my progress…” her statement read in part.
“This is not a matter that should be treated with levity or swept under the carpet, especially since names has been mentioned publicly, It should be investigated and if any officer(s) are found guilty at any point , should be properly sanctioned to serve as deterrent to others. The Nigerian public should be made to know if those names were made up or real so that the officer too may bear the consequences of her unprofessional action, if proven wrong.
“The Nigeria Military is the pride of our nation and a well respected institution both at home and abroad. We should not allow the conduct of few misguided elements to rub her name in the mud through unprofessional conduct”, he advised.
