In a video obtained from the scene, it was revealed that one of the deceased individuals possessed an identity card belonging to the Central Bank of Nigeria. The Nasarawa police spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, verified the incident, stating that the Commissioner of Police has directed the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) to conduct a thorough investigation.
Nansel reported, “On January 2, 2024, four hoodlums attacked the Wisdom Supermarket at Adehi, Karu local government, shooting sporadically. The armed men opened fire on customers, resulting in four casualties who were confirmed dead at Maraba Medical Centre. The Commissioner of Police has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the case, and the findings will be disclosed upon completion.”
This tragic event occurred just a day after the kidnapping of Safiyanu Isa Andaha, the chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area, and his political godfather, Adamu Umar, on New Year’s Day. The victims were later released after the reported payment of ransoms to the kidnappers.
The recent incidents highlight the escalating security challenges in Nasarawa State, prompting urgent attention from law enforcement agencies and authorities.
