Some supporters of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, have advised Governor Alex Otti of Abia State not to probe Okezie Ikpeazu.
This is because it was predicted that probing the recent ex-governor would divert him from his duties as governor.
They advised Otti to concentrate on providing the state’s citizens with effective government rather than probing Ikpeazu.
The demand was made in a statement that was signed by Ndubueze Obiakwata, the state’s chairman of the Obidients Across Parties Alliance (OAPA), and Mazi Chetachi Ikpe of the Peter Obi Grassroots Movement (POGM) in Abia State.

Otti’s outstanding first month in office was praised, and they proclaimed: “Your Excellency, you’re indeed God’s Gift to God’s Own State (Abia).”
The following is a portion of the statement: “Abia civil servants are pleased that you maintained your pledge to pay salaries. Indeed, the welfare of the workforce should be the first priority of any administration, but especially one led by the Labour Party. We anticipate Abia employees to receive their June pay today, which is the 28th day of June, in accordance with your commitment that they will do so on the 28th of each month.
The State of Emergency you proclaimed for garbage management and evacuation in Aba and Umuahia has pleased us. True to the saying “cleanliness is next to godliness,” God’s Own State shouldn’t be filthy. We think that under your leadership, the days of a famous Igbo son saying “Aba stinks” are history.
“However, we kindly request that you refrain from doing so because doing so would be a major diversion from your stated goals of rebuilding Aba and wiping away our sorrows, which you stated in your inaugural address as governor.
Peter Obi, the ex-governor of Anambra State, “proved to the electorate that he was better by beating his predecessor’s records when he came into office, instead of turning around to blame and investigate his predecessor.”
The groups further noted: “All eyes are on you, as the only Labour Party (LP) governor in Nigeria. We are in a hurry to see you show Nigerians what they will miss if they miss having Mr. Peter Obi, the LP presidential candidate, who was robbed of his mandate, as president.”
They added: “Finally, we urge you to keep your eyes on the ball, bearing in mind that you stand on the shoulders of giants such as Dr. Michael Okpara and Dr. Sam Mbakwe.
“Through you and our principal, Peter Obi, we believe that a new Nigeria is possible.”
