PRESS RELEASE

In order to forestall further escalation of violence and threat to law and order in Okon Aku Autonomous Community of Ohafia LGA arising from the leadership crisis that has engulfed the Okon Development Union, the Executive Chairman, Ohafia Local Government Government, Dr. Okorafor Ukiwe has directed as follows:

(a) That the two factions of Dr. Nmecha Ume and Deacon Zik Uduma are hereby banned from conducting the affairs of Okon-Aku Development Union.

(b) That elections into the offices of the Executive Committee of the union shall hold on 30th December 2021 under the supervision of a 5-man Independent Electoratal Committee to be constituted by the Executive Chairman.

(c) That each of the factions are to immediately nominate and forward names of two persons to the Executive Chairman as members of the Electoral Committee.

(d) That every interested person for any position shall collect the form free of charge at the Office of the Executive Chairman.

(e) That the elections shall strictly be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Okon-Aku Development Union and watch of the security agencies.

The local government expects strict compliance to the above directives with a view to restoring peace, security and progress in the community.
