The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that seven additional political associations have applied for registration as political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, bringing the total number of applications to 129.
In a statement released on Thursday by Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the commission disclosed that it is processing the new applications. To streamline the registration process, INEC is introducing a new Political Party Registration Portal, integrated into its Party Financial Reporting and Auditing System (PFRAS).

“This portal will make the process faster and seamless, replacing the manual method used previously,” Olumekun stated. He added that the portal is undergoing final testing and will be deployed within the next week. INEC will then provide guidelines for associations meeting the requirements to proceed with their applications.
The commission has uploaded the list of the new associations to its website and other platforms for public awareness. The seven political parties seeking registration are:

Protem Chairman: Professor Ibrahim Modibbo
Protem Secretary: Professor Emmanuel Adekunle - National Peace Congress Party of Nigeria (NPCP)
