Kenneth Okonkwo, a former spokesman for the Labour Party’s presidential campaign council, has urged prominent politicians to step aside and allow fresh faces to emerge in the 2027 elections.
Okonkwo specifically named President Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi, stating that they have failed to deliver on their promises to Nigerians.
In an interview on Arise TV, Okonkwo emphasized the need for new leadership, citing the failure of both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition parties to effectively govern and work together.
He criticized the opposition for their inability to form a united front against the APC, pointing out that they have the numerical strength in the House of Representatives to effect change.
Okonkwo stressed that the focus should be on consolidation and forming alliances within the opposition, rather than immediately turning attention to the next election. He believes that a united opposition can produce meaningful change and hold the ruling party accountable.
