Kenneth Omeruo, Super Eagles defender in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire, explained why the team is doing well.
Three-time African champions defeated Angola 1-0 on Friday to advance to the 2023 AFCON semi-finals in Cote d’Ivoire, according to OHAFIATV News.
The Kasampasa defender is not overjoyed despite the Super Eagles’ performance.
After defeating Angola, Nigeria has won four straight games without a goal.
Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro replaced Ademola Lookman with Omeruo in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
Omeruo told mixed zone reporters: “I feel good; there is still work to be done, but I’m happy we could win this game because there was a lot of media talk, but we stayed focused. We triumphed because we followed our strategy.”
Why is the team performing well? “The unity between us and the tactics of the coach,” said the Turkey-based defender.
