The 22-year-old twins Taye and Kehinde Taiwo, together with their brother Israel Taiwo, 20, appeared in the Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. They were accused of stealing N365,000. Regarding an incident that occurred on November 11, 2023, at 18, Ogooluwa St., Iju-Ishaga in Lagos State, there are accusations of conspiracy and theft.
The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, claims that Taye, a hairstylist, took N365,000 out of his employer Jumoke Oreofero’s account by stealing her ATM card. After the heist, Taye ran away, but when he was caught, he accused his brothers of being involved in the crime.
The charges brought against the brothers fall under sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Throughout the legal processes, the accused entered a not guilty plea. Each of them was given N50,000 in bail by Chief Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi, along with two sureties in the same amount. For mention, the case was postponed until February 8.
To sum up, Taye Taiwo was accused of stealing and taking N365,000 with the help of his employer’s ATM card. The Taiwo siblings were charged with theft. They were granted bail by the judge, and a follow-up hearing is scheduled for February.
