Wike defends fight with Fubara, “If I demand N20bn every month, it’s politics.”

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has stated that politics was the only reason behind his falling out with Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara.

If Wike is able to award all contracts to himself and demand N20 billion on a monthly basis, then that’s politics, according to Wike.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja, the former governor of Rivers State questioned Fubara’s whereabouts throughout his fights.

The minister promised to keep his framework in place and continue to be politically relevant.

“It’s politics,” says Wike, “if I demand N20 billion every month and even give myself all the contracts.” When I was battling, where was he?

“I have to keep my political structure intact and remain politically relevant. I can’t let someone cut me off right away.

“Accuse me all you want, but I won’t sleep through the night because the right thing has to be done.”

Some state assembly members attempted to impeach the governor as a result of the disagreement between Wike and Fubara.

But the governor rejected their efforts.
